Summit Wealth Group Expands to the Pacific Northwest with Acquisition of Financial Investment Team

Summit Wealth Group, a national independent RIA, today announced its acquisition of Financial Investment Team (FIT), a fee-based financial planning practice based in Portland, Oregon. The acquisition establishes Summit’s first branch in the Pacific Northwest and extends the firm’s presence into a region it has not previously served.

FIT manages approximately $224 million in client assets* and serves roughly 300 clients. All seven FIT employees, including three advisors, will join Summit, and the practice will operate under the Summit Wealth Group brand.

The acquisition resolves a succession challenge for FIT’s founder, Diana Harrison, who built FIT on the same client-first planning model that has anchored Summit since its inception. Harrison’s team couldn’t independently finance a buyout as she approached retirement. Summit structured a transaction that bought out Harrison’s ownership stake and gave FIT’s advisors equity in the firm going forward in a deal orchestrated by FP Transitions.

“Financial Investment Team represents exactly the kind of partnership Summit was built for,” said Randy Morris, CEO of Summit Wealth Group. “It’s a planning-first firm with deep client relationships and a team that shares our belief that growth should never come at the expense of the client experience. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve the Portland market with the FIT team.”

As a result of the acquisition, FIT advisors gain access to Summit’s in-house investment platform, marketing and organic growth support, financial planning infrastructure, and compliance and human resources support while their client relationships remain unchanged. Summit’s existing advisors gain additional bench strength, particularly in tax preparation, along with a new regional presence.

“Our job is to make this transition feel invisible to the client and empowering to the advisor,” said Seamus O’Brien, Head of Advisor Success at Summit Wealth Group. “FIT’s team will keep doing what they do best, serving their clients, while gaining access to a CIO, CCO, marketing team, a full planning department, and an operating infrastructure they’d otherwise have to build themselves.”

RIA consolidation is accelerating across the industry, and much of it is driven by scale alone. Summit’s acquisition of FIT reflects a different approach: expansion built on cultural fit and deliberate geographic strategy rather than opportunistic roll-up. With the addition of FIT, Summit now operates twelve offices across six states.
