Much of what I do is provide technical support, and in many cases, emotional support, to encourage writers to continue putting their work out there, and defining what “success” as a writer actually means to them.”
Her professional background extends beyond publishing, giving her experience in law, communications, public relations, and strategic engagement. Candace earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration from Howard University before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, where she was a Merit Scholar and Dean’s Fellow. She also holds her Realtor certification and is a member of Realtor associations.
Candace attributes much of her success to the example set by her parents, who were both educators and lifelong learners. They instilled in her the value of education, giving back, and helping others. Their mentorship continues to shape her personal and professional life and remains an important influence on how she approaches her work.
The career advice Candace values most is to take her time and always lead with kindness. She believes that treating others with respect and genuine compassion helps build lasting relationships. For Candace, kindness is something people appreciate and remember, and it can open doors both personally and professionally.
She also encourages young women entering the industry to take a chance on themselves. Candace believes they may be more capable and better prepared than they realize and should not hold themselves back or count themselves out simply because they do not have all the answers. While she sees AI as a helpful tool, she believes it should not replace the creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth that come from writing. Developing ideas, overcoming challenges, and finding an individual voice are important parts of the creative journey, and Candace remains committed to preserving those elements while helping authors bring their visions to life.
